Install Superintendent

Brooklyn, New YorkFull-time
$110,000 - $120,000 annually
About the Job
Bednark is seeking a highly experienced Install Superintendent to own on-site execution of large-scale, high-pressure experiential builds.

You will command pace, sequencing, crew coordination, and disciplined execution from load-in through final handoff. Your job is to ensure projects run with clarity, urgency, and control in front of the client.

This role exists to eliminate install chaos, reduce idle labor, and protect Project Managers from being pulled into crew management. PMs manage the client. You manage the site.

This is a senior field leadership position requiring decisiveness, command presence, and real-world install experience.

Key Responsibilities:
On-Site Leadership & Execution:
  • Serve as the sole on-site production authority during installations.
  • Own and execute the Run of Show (ROS) in real time.
  • Maintain a clear chain of command across all trades and vendors.
  • Drive urgency and eliminate idle time.
  • Dynamically reallocate labor as site conditions evolve.
  • Make fast, informed decisions to keep work moving when plans break down.

Crew & Trade Management:
  • Coordinate carpentry, metal, scenic, A/V, logistics, and external vendors.
  • Break down daily objectives into clear, executable directives.
  • Step in immediately when momentum stalls.
  • Enforce professionalism, safety standards, site cleanliness, and discipline.
  • Maintain strong cross-disciplinary collaboration under tight timelines.

Pre-Install Planning & Alignment:
  • Review Run of Show and install plans with PMs, Production, and Engineering.
  • Flag sequencing risks, labor constraints, or logistical issues in advance.
  • Ensure field execution aligns with approved plans and client expectations.

Client-Facing Execution:
  • Represent Bednark as a premium, organized operator on-site.
  • Maintain composure and authority under pressure.
  • Support PMs by keeping the build environment controlled and predictable.

Post-Install Optimization:
  • Participate in post-mortems to identify execution gaps.
  • Contribute to improving ROS standards and field playbooks.
  • Help refine best practices for future installs.

What Success Looks Like:
  • Clear, visible leadership presence on-site.
  • No ambiguity around ownership or decision-making.
  • Minimal idle labor and strong sequencing across trades.
  • Reduced last-minute scrambling and on-site fire drills.
  • Clients experience Bednark as organized, urgent, and in control—even under deadline pressure.

Required Experience:
  • 8–12+ years leading complex, time-sensitive installations.
  • Proven experience running large-scale experiential, exhibition, retail, or scenic builds.
  • Strong command presence and ability to lead diverse crews.
  • Deep understanding of sequencing, logistics, and labor flow.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve under pressure.
  • Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.

Preferred Background:
  • Experiential marketing, live events, exhibitions, retail environments, or large scenic builds.
  • Previous roles such as Site Superintendent, Construction Manager, Field Producer, or Lead Installer.
  • Experience coordinating union and non-union labor.
  • Familiarity with multi-trade installs in compressed schedules.
