The Junior Draftsperson is an entry-level role supporting the creation and revision of technical drawings, 3D models, and fabrication files. This role works closely with drafters, project managers, and production teams to ensure designs are accurate, buildable, and aligned with project requirements.
This role works under the guidance of senior team members to translate design concepts into accurate, buildable drawings while gaining hands-on exposure to fabrication, CNC processes, and production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and updating technical drawings, 3D models, and cut files in SolidWorks.
- Interpret sketches, renderings, and project information into accurate build drawings.
- Make requested updates and corrections to drawings in a timely manner.
- Support project teams by answering drawing-related questions and clarifying details.
- Ensure drawings align with fabrication methods, materials, and installation requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and senior team members to meet project goals.
- Organize and manage project files and communications within Innergy.
- Track assigned tasks and maintain progress against production schedules.
- Identify potential issues in drawings and flag them before production.
- Participate in project and engineering meetings as needed.
- Conduct occasional walkthroughs of the production floor to understand how designs are built.
Learning & Development Expectations:
- Build working knowledge of fabrication processes, CNC machining, and finishing methods.
- Develop familiarity with materials including wood, metal, plastics, and sheet goods.
- Improve proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling tools.
- Learn industry-standard hardware and construction methods over time.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in drafting, CAD, or a related field (internships acceptable).
- Basic proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Basic understanding of technical drawings and measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Clear communication and ability to take direction and feedback.
Preferred Background (not required):
Some exposure to fabrication or hands-on work, such as:
- Carpentry or woodworking.
- Metalwork.
- CNC or digital fabrication.
- Model making or shop experience.
